Roopesh Kumar

Roopesh Kumar

He was a character artist, especially known for his role as a villain. He is widely remembered for his comic negative roles in the films like Seeta Aur Geeta and The Great Gambler. He was the cousin of actress Mumtaz.  He also directed and produced two films, Hai Meri Jaan (1991) and Meri Aan (1993). His last film release was Paapi Devta in 1995, the same year of his death.

Anwar Hussain

Anwar Hussain

He was a well known actor and producer. He acted in over 200 films. Some of his best known roles are from Aawaz, Ab Dilli Dur Nahin, Gunga Jamuna, Shaheed, Baharaon Ke Sapne, Victoria No. 203, Chori Mera Kaam, Loafer, Gaddar, Rafoo Chakkar and Jail Yatra. He was the son of singer-turned director Jaddanbai and maternal half-brother to noted actress Nargis Dutt. He is known for the negative roles he played.

Krishan Dhawan

Krishan Dhawan

Krishan Dhawan played character roles in many film. Some major films are Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Chhoti Chhoti Baatein, Guide, Purab Aur Paschim, Jiwan Mrityu, Jungle Mein Mangal etc. He was married to Munni Dhawan who was from the film fraternity and father of actor Dilip Dhawan. Munni Dhawan was the sister of director Bhappie Soni.

K N Singh

K N Singh

He  was undoubtedly one of the best villian Indian cinema has seen. He was always dressed in a fine suit with a hat on his head and a smoking pipe. He started his career with 1938s Baghban. Some of his memorable films are Awara, Jaal, CID, Howrah Bridge, Chalti Ka Naam Gadi, An Evening in Paris. He died in the year 2000.

Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan

He was character actor famous for his negative roles. His best roles were played with Dev Anand right from Afsar, Navketan Films's first production and went on to work together in hits like Tere Ghar Ke Samne and Kaala Bazar, in which he played key roles. They worked together till 1973 film Banarasi Babu.

Sujit Kumar

Sujit Kumar

He appeared in over 150 Hindi films and approximately 25 films in Bhojpuri. From the late 1990s, he primarily worked with production. Kumar was considered a major actor in Bhojpuri cinema. He played pivotal roles either as a villain or as a character actor. Some of his prominent films are Amar Prem, Amir Garib, Kalabaaz, The Great Gambler, Dangal, Bidesiya etc.

Nazir Hissain

Nazir Hussain

He was famous as a character actor in Hindi Cinema and acted in almost 200 films. He started his career with The New Theatres's Pehla Aadmi. He worked in many film, some of them are Do Bigha Zameen, Devdas, Naya Daur, Munimji, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam etc. He is considered as the father of Bhojpuri cinema. He started this with Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhaibo in 1962.

Yunus Parwez

Yunus Parvez

He is best known for his roles in films like Garm Hava (1974), Deewaar (1975), Trishul (1978) and Mr. India (1987). His last film role was in Shaad Ali's hit film Bunty Aur Babli (2005). He mostly played small character roles or comic roles. In his career he acted in over 200 films. He died in year 2007.

D K Sapru

D K Sapru

Daya Kishan Sapru was popular as Sapru. He played variety of character roles in over 200 films. The prominent ones are Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Heer Raanjha, Pakeezah, Kala Pani, Dooj Ka Chand, Tere Mere Sapne, Humjoli, Jewel Thief, and Deewar. His son Tej Sapru and Daughter Preeti  Sapru are also actors. His elder daughter Reema Rakesh Nath is a scriptwriter.

Pinchoo Kapoor

Pinchoo Kapoor

Pushpendra Rai was his real name. He started his career with Merchant Ivory productions' films The Householder, Shakespearwallah, Bombay Talkie. He also appeared in Siddhartha. He had a good bonding with the Kapoors especially Shashi Kapoor. 
He worked in over 100 films. He died on April 28, 1989

Kamal Kapoor

Kamal Kapoor

He was a cousin of Prithviraj Kapoor and maternal gradfather of Goldie Behl. He started his career as a leading man in Door Chalen. With the initial failures he switched to character roles. He worked in over 300 films including Punjabi and Gujarati. He played in Aag, Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Shaheed, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Don, Mard etc. He died on August 2, 2010.

Om Shiv Puri

Om Shivpuri

A NSD alumnus, Om Shivpuri became the first chief of the National School of Drama Repertory Company (1964) and one of its actors; he later founded an important theatre group of its era, in New Delhi: Dishantar. He started his career in films with 1971s Ashadh Ka Ek Din which followed by Koshish. He acted in over 200 films. His daughter Ritu Shivpuri is also an actress.

Kanhaiyalal

Kanhaiya Lal

He started his career as a stage artist. He used to write his own plays. In 1939 with Ek Hi Rasta, he debuted in Hindi films. His role of a money lender in Mehboob's Aurat and Mother India will always be remembered. Some of his landmark roles were in the films Ganga Jamuna, Gopi, Upkaar, Apna desh, Dushman, bandhan, Teen Bahuraniyan etc. He died on August 14, 1982.

Gajanan Jagirdar

Gajanan Jagirdar

He started his career with Prabhat Film Co. Pune as an assistant director. He became director with 1934s Sinhasan. He directed over 10 films. He also use to act in the films. Mostly he played character roles. His prominent films are Paying Guest, Kaajal, Amrapali, Suraj, Aa Gale Lag Ja etc. He died on august 13, 1988.

Sajjan

Sajjan

Sajjan started his career with Masoom in 1941. He worked as an assistant with Kidar Sharma and Gajanan Jagirdar. He also wrote dilogues for a few films. He used to play the lead roles in his earlier film and switched to character roles later on. His memorablefilms are Muqaddar, Rail Ka Dibba, Bahana, Malkin, Nirmohi, Halla Gulla, Girl School etc. He died on May 17, 2000.

Ram Avtar

He's known for his roles in Nasir Hussain's Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai, Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Teesri manzil etc. He was known for his big stomach and mirthful demeanor.

C S Dubey

C S Dubey

Chandra Shekhar Dubey was popular as CS Dubey. He was a character artist and played in over 200 films. He started his career in 1949 sith Sunehre Din. He first worked for producer and director Amiya Chakravarty as an office boy, production manager and assistant director before appearing in his two films Patita and Seema. He died in 1993.

Janki Das

He was a champion cyclist who founded Cycling Federation of India on 1940s. He represented India in 1936 Olympic games in Berlin.
He debuted in film with 1941 Khazanchi. He mostly played character roles in over 300 films. He also worked as production designer and script writer.He died on June18, 2003.

M B Shetty

He terrified the audiences with his deadly looks and bald head in numerous films. He mostly played the negative roles in over 100 films. He also worked as stunt/action director in numerous films such as Do, The Great Gambler, Deewar and Trishul etc. His son Rohit Shetty is a noted director. Shetty died on January 23, 1982.

Viju Khote

Viju Khote

Famous for his character of Kalia, played in cult classic Sholay, Viju acted in over 300 films. He debuted in early 1960s and played character and comic roles. He was the younger brother of actress Shubha Khote. His prominent films are Sholay, Andaz Apna Apna, Rampur Ka Laxman etc. He died on September 30, 2019.

Shobha Khote

Shubha Khote

She was a national champion in swimming and cycling. Her daughter Bhavna Balsawar is a noted actress. Shubha debuted in 1955 with the film Seema. She was very close to Mehmood and she paired with him in many films, such as,sasural, Bharosa, Ziddi, Chhoti Behan etc. She acted in over 200 films. She also directed comedy plays Hera Pheri, Hum Dono, Bachelor's Wife etc.

Satyen Kappu

Satyen Kappu

Satyendra Kapoor was his real name. He acted in over 300 films in his long career. His best works include Kati Patang, Amar Prem, Sholay, Yadon Ki Baarat, Zanjeer, Namak Halal etc. He mostly played character roles. He died on 27th October 2007.

Manorama

Her real name was Erin Issac Daniels. She debuted in 1941 withthe screen name of Manorama. In his early career she played the main lead in a few movies. Then she switched to playing character and comic roles. Her memorable performances were in the movies Half Ticket, Dus Lakh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Bombay To Goa, Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje, Mehboob ki Mehndi, Caravan etc. she died on February 15, 2008.

Ramesh Deo

Ramesh Deo

This versatile actor appeared in over 400 films including Hindia and Marathi. He debuted with Marathi cinema in 1956. His first Hindi film was 1962s Aarti. He mostly appeared in character roles and sometimes did negative roles as well. His prominent fils are Anand, Aap Ki Kasam, Mere Apne, Lakhon Mein Ek etc. He also directed a no. of films and TV serials.
